Cloggies Dances and Music
The Dancing consists mainly of either the Polka Step ( or rant ), the single skip step, or the Hop Step. Whilst the dances themselves celebrate local towns , Ashton, Failsworth, Dukinfield, many of the tunes are traditional English Country Dance Music.
So as to be heard above the clatter of clogs and clinking pint pots, North West Morris has developed a robust rhythmic musical accompaniment performed on a variety of instruments such as melodeon accordion, fiddle, flute or brass, assisted by all manner of percussion.
Any musicians who might wish to squeeze, blow or fiddle are welcome to join us.
